PART ONE: TWO Examples of Transformative Learning

After finishing this course, my most intuitive feeling is that I began to realize the prejudice of women in film and television works. I didn't realize this idea before. With television, film and television works enter people's lives in a more convenient way in a wider range, and affect people's ideology. I rarely watch TV dramas after I finish this class. One of the reasons is that the female images in TV dramas are easy to catch fire, especially those family ethics dramas that were popular in the past few years. I occasionally glanced at it and saw my mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. In the big battle, mother-in-law and mother-in-law tore each other, and the little daughter-in-law was crazy about it, driving the man crazy. The women portrayed in film and television dramas are either chaotic, trivial, trivial, and all-round; or good wives and mothers, honest and simple, and slanderous; shrewd and capable and a bit fox, even professors, judges, and cadres , And often will be confused at critical moments and fail to understand the overall situation. Excellent female image cannot be said to be no, less. This kind of story, this kind of image gathers prejudice against women. In people chatting and drinking tea, they unknowingly immerse themselves in consciousness, form cognition, and copy and copy concepts that discriminate against women, generation after generation.

Another change is about writing and reading. I learned a lot. One way is to read more. Extensive reading is a prerequisite for improving the level of composition. To write a good article, you must read more. "Reading breaks ten thousand books, and writing as if there is a god." "Reading 300 poems in Tang dynasty, even if you can't write poems, you can also chant." Article structure skills, language characteristics" etc. I generally use fast reading to read, study, and accumulate knowledge. The fast reading mentioned here is not simply fast reading, but is essentially different from skimming, skipping and scanning. Fast reading is a scientific and efficient method of reading and learning. Fast reading is not only reflected in the efficiency of reading speed, but also the efficiency of understanding: it has a very good effect on grasping the context and key points of the article paragraph, and helps us to do the article. Organize, analyze and summarize. After mastering the speed reading memory, you can increase the reading efficiency many times, whether it is reading material accumulation or learning, it is of great help.

ART TWO: Taking Stock-- TWO Problems & A Plan for the Future

I have a big problem with grammar. I do not understand English, stumble in reading, and cannot speak. One of the most important difficulties is the lack of grammatical skills. When reading a text, you can’t react to the structure of the sentence. You have to use grammatical rules to divide the composition of the sentence and slowly understand the meaning. When listening to the sound, I don't have time to draw the sentence components, I can only understand it. In English, you can use grammar rules to slowly piece together sentences, and can barely write a few sentences. I think I can improve through practice, such as learning correct grammar rules. It's not the kind of messy grammar rules that are taught in traditional grammar books or in school grammar classes.

There is another problem with my teamwork. Teamwork is an indispensable part of the cause. Good teamwork can get twice the result with half the effort. If teamwork is not good, not only the entire team will be affected, but the entire plan may also be frustrated. Team collaboration is not good, generally there are differences. In the future, I will encounter such problems again, I will try, and it is best to ask other students for advice on these differences. So when these differences are resolved, a breakthrough point will naturally be found, and then the next step will naturally know how to do it.

I like what you said "Reading breaks ten thousand books, and writing as if there is a god." Although it sounds a bit strange, but it makes sense lol. Indeed, I agree with you that we read more books, and we will naturally write articles. The way I write the most articles is to "copy" other people's article structure. But from your description, you are really a person who knows how to read. Great job, Hope you can get better and better in the future.

I agree with you. This lesson made me truly understand the issue of female discrimination. The article at the same time made me really start to understand this topic. Although reading is also a test for me. Thank you for your peer review. They are very helpful.

Hi YiFei,

It is important to understand the prejudice on to women with all these false advertisement, it is one important idea that we learned in this class, and throughout the quarter we did a lot of assignment on gender, it increased our knowledge on social constructions. I also have a lot of problems on grammar, it is a very hard skill to be good at, but in this course we practice a lot of use of grammar, from punctuations to redundant sentence. It was a great semester working with you and hope you can always be a good writer in your future classes.

Hi, Yifei. The podcast project also let me understand the importance of teamwork and collaboration. Compared some group project I did in the past, the podcast really requires a lot of cooperation between everyone instead of putting everyone's work together. My group has some differences in the overall opinion and we weren't as efficient as we expected ourselves to be.

Hi, Yifei. It is true that people's thoughts are always constantly being influenced by advertisements, news and movies. I agree with what you said that many film and television works now have prejudices when portraying women. It is precisely because of these works that people unconsciously produce value for women in their hearts. Finally, thank you for you peer reviews. I hope you can do well in the future classes.
